Cambodia is known for flooding, unfortunately. In fact, where I live near Tuol Tom Pung Market, it floods on a regular basis during monsoon season. This year, there has been a dramatic increase in rainfall throughout Southeast Asia causing area rivers to swell. Beginning in Phnom Penh, the Bassac River runs south through Saang on to Vietnam which also widens small channels breaking off from the main river. Saang has a special place in my heart as the ministry I work with operates primarily in Saang. I know this is just the beginning as there has been severe flooding throughout the entire nation. It's very sad, really. Many lives have been lost as a result. In addition, their livlihood including their crops and homes have been destroyed as well.
One more month of rainy season - sure hope this place dries up quick!
